Welcome to the "Deep in the Heart of Texas" blog hop! Over 40 Texas teacher bloggers have joined together to share what we love about our state as well as ideas and freebies that we love. Be sure to read to end because you will have the chance to win some great things!!
As you may already know, I'm Amanda! I have 6 years of teaching under my belt (I know, so many, right? ;) ), I'm a mommy to 1 sweet baby boy here and 1 sweet baby girl in the Congo who we are adopting. I am married to a lovely man who supports me in just about everything! We currently live in the Fort Worth area and previously lived in Houston.
We LOVE our city!! We love the friendliness of the people, how there is very little traffic compared to Houston, and neat shops!
Here are some of our favorite places to go and enjoy a sweet treat around town.
Best little coffee shop out there! Oh, they also have an amazing brunch!
They have THE best little ice cream sandwiches around. They bake their cookies fresh and they use Blue Bell ice-cream. Enough said.
I love, love, love teaching reading!! If you hang around her often, I'm sure you have read that before!
One of my favorite lessons is teaching my little friends how to make connections. In my class I have always taught my kids to clasp their hands together to show me silently they are making a connection during a read aloud. Sometimes I will wink to acknowledge them and other times I will call on them to share out their connection.
It usually is easy to find read aloud books that allow them to connect to several times. Alexander is one character we can ALL relate to! :)
You can read more about this HERE on my blog post.
