Happy 10 sets of 10 Day!

....that's code for Happy 100th Day of School!!

Our day was filled with making 10 sets of 10 as we counted to 100.  We started with our normal Mr. Harry's song.  When we see the multiples of 10 we always yell out how many sets of ten the number is.

We began with reading this lovely book.

We then did some math problem solving as we figured out how many shoes each teacher's class needed to make if we had 5 teachers and 100 shoes.  We used our 100s chart to figure this out.  It took my little group of smarties all of 3 minutes to figure this out. I was WAY impressed!!
(Note to self: Draw and write on him before you hang him up on the tile! It was so hard and things came out so uneven.  Those eyes just look weird!)

We then sang Happy 100th Day to everyone with this simple, fun song.

We made hats that told the story of 10. 10 sets of 10, of course.
We also made a 100th day trail mix. (Nothing fancy).  To get around all of the food rules, we made it and then the kids had the option of taking it to lunch if they wanted. Most of them did, but some of them chose to take it home.

Don't you love our simple sorting mats?? Hey! It got the job done and there wasn't enough time to make super cute ones.

We did a scavenger hunt for 100 Hershey's Kisses.  Each kiss had a number on the bottom and then was hidden around the classroom.  My friends had to find the kisses and then place them on the giant 100s chart without numbers! On my goodness! This was a little crazy, but so good! I just stood near the chart and very easily assessed who knew number patterns well and who didn't.

I will leave you with this lovely pictures of my wonderful teammates! This isn't all of us, but it is the few of us who had matching shirts.  :)

  2. As soon as I saw the the image preview for your blog entry I was overcome with SmartBoard envy.

I'm going to have to do the trail mix next year. It's a great idea.
