Science Journaling and a Fall Writing Craftivity

It has been yet another busy week at our house! I realized this morning that I didn't snap many pictures of what we did in the classroom.

Our wonderful teammate who plans science went to a great workshop this summer about journaling in Science. All of what we do pretty much can be put into a journal. I. LOVE. IT.

We finished up weather two weeks ago and started our journals.  We journaled about Weather Safety, the 4 Parts of Weather, and graphed our weather throughout the week.  Here is one page that I snapped a picture of.

Here are a few pictures of what we journaled this week as we explored properties.
They were given two items, had to measure them with our "units" and then draw them on the outside of the flip book, then inside they wrote how long the items were or how short they were.

We then explored color. We talked about how much we use that property to describe items. Then they had to draw 2 things that were each color. Simple.

This week we have this adorable writing craftivity to do! I am excited! At the end of the year, I did a bird writing and the kids had to evaluate their own writing.  For each element, they earned a piece of their bird.  It was SO POWERFUL that I decided to do this for the end of each six weeks.  This is our last week so we are going to evaluate our writing this week as we try to build our scarecrows.

I put together the directions, tracers, and some writing pages in this little bundle.  You can grab it today for 20% off!
