Okay, to help keep this organized, I'm going to back date these posts. :)
We did a short unit with magnets. First, each child got their own magnet (whatever I had in the classroom) and they explored with a buddy around the classroom. Boy, oh boy! did they get excited!!
We put a few items in ziploc baggies and used our magnets to discover which items were magnetic and which items were non-magnetic.
We then made theses cute little magnets as we did a picture sort. Magnetic items went on the magnet and non-magnetic items went on the sentence strip way away from the magnet as they repelled.
You can find this activity and many more in this mini-magnet unit!
Click the image to take you to the unit.
Have a wonderful day!!
Would love a copy of the "sort Pictures" you used. Could you share? THANKS!
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen!! I wanted to make sure that you knew I had added this fun little activity to my magnet unit! Here is the link. :) http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Magnificent-Magnets-a-mini-unit-on-movement-and-magnets-1126696
DeleteMaureen, I am so sorry but I do not have the pictures. They were from our district's curriculum so I can't share them. Someone out here in blog world made a template after I showed what we made. If you search on Pinterest, I'm sure you'll be able to find it. If I am remembering correctly, she's a 2nd grade blogger.
