Magnets

WOW! I haven't posted since October?! Holy moly! Well, believe me, we have been busy in our little classroom! I'll just catch you up with some pictures of what we have been doing.

Okay, to help keep this organized, I'm going to back date these posts. :)

We did a short unit with magnets. First, each child got their own magnet (whatever I had in the classroom) and they explored with a buddy around the classroom. Boy, oh boy! did they get excited!!
We put a few items in ziploc baggies and used our magnets to discover which items were magnetic and which items were non-magnetic.

We then made theses cute little magnets as we did a picture sort. Magnetic items went on the magnet and non-magnetic items went on the sentence strip way away from the magnet as they repelled.

You can find this activity and many more in this mini-magnet unit!
Click the image to take you to the unit.

Have a wonderful day!!

  2. Maureen, I am so sorry but I do not have the pictures. They were from our district's curriculum so I can't share them. Someone out here in blog world made a template after I showed what we made. If you search on Pinterest, I'm sure you'll be able to find it. If I am remembering correctly, she's a 2nd grade blogger.
